McD Food For Thoughts Guide is an independent site that explains one thing well, the McDonald’s UK Food for Thoughts receipt survey at mcdfoodforthoughts.com. It isn’t owned, run or approved by McDonald’s.
The site exists because the survey changed on 22 May 2026 and a lot of people found out at the till. The £2.99 meal became a free item with a £5 spend, and most guides online still described the old deal.
What we cover
Where the code is on a receipt, how to enter it, what the current reward is, how to redeem the voucher at a kiosk, till or in the app, and what to do when a code or voucher won’t work.
We also cover the separate Ireland offer, because the rules there differ. Irish customers spend €6, not £5, and give a 5-digit code at the till.

Where our facts come from
Every rule on this site is checked against McDonald’s own Food for Thoughts terms and conditions. When a third-party report adds detail, we say so and name it instead of passing it off as official.
We don’t sell codes, we don’t generate codes, and we never ask for receipts, payment or login details. The only place to take the survey is www.mcdfoodforthoughts.com.
Who writes it
One independent editor writes and checks every page. If a fact is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page and we’ll fix it, usually within a few days.
